Areas of Practice

Cynthia Dolan has ten years of appellate experience having written and/or orally argued over 100 appeals in New York State and Federal courts.

Ms. Dolan's state court experience has been in the area of general liability defense. She has litigated cases involving premises liability, New York State Civil Service Law, Executive Law, Insurance Law, General Municipal Law, Labor Law, Vehicle and Traffic Law, false arrest and imprisonment, malicious prosecution, slander, defamation, products liability and Article 78 proceedings.

Professional Experience

Ms. Dolan was a law clerk and an associate with our firm from 1997 to 2006. She has defended numerous 42 USC §1983 cases including First Amendment retaliation claims arising out of the criticism of governmental officials by private citizens and public employees, claims against municipalities and municipal officials concerning zoning laws, adult uses, sign ordinances, and public demonstrations. She has litigated cases involving 42 USC § 1981 claims of intentional racial discrimination and 42 USC §1983 and §1985 conspiracy claims.

Ms. Dolan has also defended cases involving the Fourteenth Amendment Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses including claims of selective prosecution, illegal search and seizure, and zoning laws. She has substantial experience representing police officers in Fourth Amendment excessive force and deadly force cases.

Ms. Dolan has a certificate in Environmental Law from Pace University School of Law. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Westchester Women's Bar Association, and the Women's Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties .
